The class visited Alsey Refractories, in Alsey, this morning where they met with senior staff and toured the plant. Ben Petri, Operations Manager; Troy Scoggins, Production Manager; Dale Rawe, Quality Control Supervisor; Jon Krebs, Shipping Manager; and Dusty Lawson, General Manager of Maintenance & Tooling all spoke to the class about their roles in the organization.
The class found out that the original plant was constructed from lumber remnants from the 1904 World’s Fair held in St. Louis. With more than a century of experience, Alsey Refractories continues to produce high quality refractory brick and refractory mortar made from high quality clay mined in east, central Missouri. Their products are shipped worldwide and have been used in some pretty cool projects. Some of the applications of these high quality refractory products include use by NASA under the launch pad of the space shuttle, used in the Johnsonville Big Taste Grill, and used around boilers in US Navy war ships. How awesome is that?!
And how cool is it that CEO class member, Jaidyn Rueter’s, great-grandpa worked for Alsey Refractories for 53 years. Thank you so much to the Alsey Refractories crew for their time and hospitality!
