As they say, there are two certainties in life…death and taxes. Today the class learned about death. The class visited Daws Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville where Bailey Turner and Richard Evans gave the students a tour of the facility and discussed the process of making funeral arrangements. While it seems a bit morbid, it’s definitely a part of life. It’s also an excellent example of a business generally seen as recession-proof due to the consistent need for funeral services regardless of economic conditions.

The students were surprised to learn that funeral directors are required to have a degree in Mortuary Science, where they are required to complete both English Composition I and English Composition II, as well as human anatomy, business law, and grief counseling.

Thank you to Bailey and Richard for their time today!
