Thank you so much to Jacksonville Memorial Hospital President and CEO, Trevor Huffman, and CNO, Carrie Carls, for hosting the class! The students learned what a critical access hospital is and how vital the services are to Jacksonville and the surrounding rural communities. The students also learned that hospitals employ people from so many professions that we don’t normally think of. In addition to doctors, nurses and lab staff, the hospital employs plumbers, IT specialists, construction workers, dietary specialists, and so much more. It was interesting for the students to hear that many of the Operations Management Team members didn’t start out in healthcare and that you just never know where your path will lead. This is important as the students begin thinking about their plans after high school. Decisions about career choices and college majors aren’t set in stone. It’s never too late to head a different direction and try something new!
Thank you again for your time and your hospitality!
